The Number of Devices Connected To the Internet Outnumber the Number of Human Beings

I apologize for that verbose title to this post but after reading an article on allthingsd.com I could not think of a better, more apt title.

According to Cisco, as of 2008, the number of devices connected to the Internet through any number of apparatus: PC, phone, tablet and on on... now outnumber the number of human beings on the planet Earth.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it... Holy Moses.

What in the name of Al Gore is going on here?

What's going on here is the most-significant shift in communications since Steve Gutenberg invented the printing press and movable type. Oh wait, I always get them confused. Steve Guttenberg (with two Ts) was in the Police Academy movies, Johannes Gutenberg (with one T) was the inventor.

For those of you into charts and infographics - and really who doesn't love a nice infographic. There's nothing like it. Except for a nice MLT: a mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe. They're so perky, I love that.

But I digress...

Here's the chart... take a close look at this and you will see just how staggering the numbers really are and are going to be in the years to come.

'Til next time...
