The Morning After...

Sports, is for all intents and purposes, a release… a distraction from the real world. It allows us an escape if even for just a few hours. Unfortunately the real world returns when the clock strikes zero.

I say all this because it is with heavy heart I tell you that the wife of the man behind Inside The Eagles, Jules Pilla is fighting for her life. She is in critical condition (cancer) and I ask that each of you please take a minute to say a prayer for Maureen Pilla.

I apologize for the serious intro to this week’s TMA. Those of you who know me know that I never like to be serious, rather looking at the humorous, comical side of life and sports. But sports are merely a game and this is life.

Ok, let’s get to the game…

RYAN’S MOATS…
In case you were having trouble sleeping wondering where former Eagle RB Ryan Moats now resides… he is in Houston, now a member of the Texans. Ok, now you know and now may sleep in peace.

WILDCAT STRIKE…
A great, great call by Andy and Marty on the Eagle first TD, the “wildcat” formation with DeSean Jackson taking the direct snap then scampering in for the score.

COMMERCIAL BREAK…
I love the new series of spots for the new Ford F-150. The combination of Dennis Leary providing the voice over with the simultaneous text onscreen make for very impactful spots… at least I think so, anyway.

YOU KNOW YOU DON’T HAVE THE BALL…
A lot on offense when the opposing defense’s starters are not introduced until the SECOND Quarter. That’s what happened last night with the Giants Defense after the Eagles Offense was on the field for very little in the First Quarter.

THE RIGHT FOOT’S CONNECTED TO THE…
What a complete crock of crap that was on the penalty that wasn’t in the 3rd Quarter when Giants Eli Manning’s right heel was apparently NOT over the line of scrimmage. The bottom line was it was not conclusive enough to overturn the call.

GREG LEWIS, MENSA MEMBER…
Yessir, that was one super-intelligent play by Greg Lewis late in the 3rd Quarter not allowing the Giants punt returner room to make the catch.

THE HOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL…
Was it me or did the Giants get away with, oh I don’t know… 10-15 holding calls that were not flagged?

ZEBRAS GONE HORRIBLE…
Another challenge, another complete crock o’crap re: the Brandon Jacobs TD that put the Giants up 36-24 in the 4th Quarter. He did not have control of the ball as he crossed the Goal Line yet he was awarded the score, much to Al Michaels’ delight.

CUT HIM RIGHT NOW…
Tank Daniels, who jumped offside late in the 4th Quarter during a Giants punt, should be cut. Period. I don’t care if the Giants declined the penalty. Cut him.

THE BOTTOM LINE…
The team that is staunchly opposed to running the ball decides to run the ball on the two most important plays of the game. Call it an example of a coach trying to outsmart himself or call it out and out horrific play calling. Call it anything you want but make no mistake about it, Andy Reid again showed why he is nor will ever be a big game coach. He simply is not good when the game is on the line.

The good news is before we know it, pitchers and catchers will report to Spring Training.

‘Til next time.
