Getting some things off my chest, cleaning the attic...
- Chargers acquire Chris Chambers. You mean the Eagles were not willing to part with a 2nd Round Pick for a proven NFL-caliber WR? Or did they not even inquire? In case you were wondering, the Eagles 2nd Round picks under Andy Reid have been all over the (draft) board. From the good (Sheldon Brown, Reggie Brown) to the bad (Bobby Williams, Todd Pinkston) to the ugly (Barry Gardner, Quinton Caver). Or do you think the reason the Eagles did not make a play for Chris Chambers had anything to do with the fact that he was in the same draft as Fred X? Painful as this is to all Eagles fans, I must remind you that Freddie Mitchell was selected ahead of Chad Johnson, Chris Chambers & Steve Smith. All together now: OUCH!
- The world is ending. Mark this date down people as the day the world officially began to end. Why do I say this? Because Ricky Martin & Vince McMahon are getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Yeah, you heard me. According to the official website, Robert DeNiro & Al Pacino DO NOT have a star on the walk of fame yet Ricky Martin & Vince McMahon do. You don't think there's any sort of politics at play here, do you? Nah, didn't think so.
- Thrashers thrash Hartley. Let's see here. You win your division with 97 points. You make the playoffs. Yes you get swept in 4 games in the opening round, but... The new year comes and your team starts 0-6. Not the start you had in mind, but... you wake up today and you're out. Wow. Tough business this coaching thing. What have you done for me lately doesn't even begin to cover it.
- Not exactly a Rockie Road. So what it is now, something like 22 out of their last 23 games the Rockies have won including the 7 straight in the post season? Do you take any solace in the fact that the Phillies lost to the eventual NL champion? Me neither. And if they go on to the win the World Series... oh my heavens, the outcry from people like, well, like me, who will bemoan the fact the Marlins and Rockies have now won titles (2 in the case of the Marlins) while the Phillies continue their o-fer, currently at 27 years and counting.
