Want to wish everyone a safe, happy and healthy New Year. I hope everyone gets all their wishes granted in 2009... and beyond.
Lots of people asking my what I think of the Birds this weekend... well I will say this:
First and foremost, everyone needs to stop thinking ahead to a potential matchup vs. the Giants. This is the Philadelphia Eagles we're talking about ova here. We can't afford to look ahead, we need to take this one game, quarter, series, play at a time.
I think the Eagles will beat the Vikes provided they keep AP to a minimum, which in this context equates to less than 100 yards. I realize every team that faces the Vikings comes into their game with the same goal, stop AP and make the lost Jackson brother, Tarvaris Jackson beat them.
And this game should be no different. The X Factor will be Brad Childress and how much Big Red will shake up the playbook to keep his former coordinator off-balance cause you know damn well Brad and his Def. Coord. have had and will have some serious discussions about tendencies and things like that.
Eagles 30
Vikings 17
And finally on this last day of 2008, we need to look back on some of the top national sports stories of 2008. Here's a list with my "grade".
Here's the scale:
A - momentous event/occasion I will always remember
B - not quite so momentous
C - take it or leave it
F - Who cares
Michael Phelps wins eight gold medals in 2008 Olympics - A
Giants Defeat Pats in the Super Bowl, Spoiling their Undefeated Season - A
Phillies win 2008 World Series - A
Detroit Lions Go 0-16 - B
Boston Celtics win NBA Championship - F
Tiger Woods wins the U.S. Open in a sudden death playoff - B
Kansas Defeats Memphis to Win College Basketball's National Championship - C
Roger Clemens' fall from grace - A
Redeem Team wins gold - F
Til next time.
